Our Ph.D. programs aim to train specialists capable of conducting cutting-edge research, applied to public policies across the various disciplines that form the backbone of teaching and research at the FGSES: economics, political science, international relations, global affairs, behavioral sciences.
Each year, the doctoral programs organize separate recruitment competitions in the spring. The winners of these competitions receive a three-year scholarship.
Doctoral courses begin each year in September. During the first year, doctoral students have the status of Ph.D. candidates. At the end of this first year, they take an exam, the content and format of which vary according to the discipline. Success in this exam ensures passage to the second year and allows them to register for a doctorate, which they must complete within 3 years. Throughout their training, doctoral students follow a total of 200 hours of teaching.
This teaching is composed of both modules specialized in the discipline of the doctorate and modules intended to develop transversal skills of the student: methods of scientific writing, methods of documentary research, languages, and oral communication. Completing these academic activities is required to defend their thesis and obtain the Ph.D. degree.
Ph.D. students are automatically affiliated with AIRESS and benefit from the research activities organized within it, such as AIRESS research seminars and all other research promotion and dissemination activities.
