About the speaker
A graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications in Paris, he has had a long career in both the private and public sectors. In December 2021, Mr. Benchaaboun was appointed as the Ambassador of Morocco to France. From August 2018 to October 2021, he served as Minister of Economy, Finance, and Administrative Reform.
From September 2003 to February, he held the position of Director-General of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT), a position he held until his appointment in February 2008 as CEO of the Banque Centrale Populaire group.
He began his professional career at Alcatel Alsthom, where he successively held the positions of Director of Strategy, Development, and Controlling, as well as Industrial Director. In 1996, he joined the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration, where he served as Director, responsible for coordinating cross-cutting projects for the modernization of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
Alongside his various responsibilities, he has served as a board member of public and private companies operating in Morocco and abroad, mainly in the finance sector, and chaired the supervisory board of Maroc Telecom.
