SALIM offers formal tuition in Standard Arabic with requirements to meet and credits to earn. It also keeps the summer dimension with a wider range of and recreational yet instructive activities. 

To ensure the fullest possible immersion in Arabic language and have a fair grasp of the MENA region through the lenses of Morocco, each of the 5 weeks of the program revolves around a specific theme with relevant activities (History, culture and civilization, politics and the Economy).
Using Arabic Language as a springboard and Morocco as a perspective, SALIM (Summer Arabic Language in Morocco) offers opportunities for cross-cultural learning and discovery of the broader region and considering Morocco’s connections with Africa, the Mediterranean and the broader Middle East

Program Structure

Summer Arabic Language in Morocco consists of 3 major components:

• Language Component

Arabic Language Classes: (50 hours of contact classes+ customized tutorials and library attachments).
Participants receive instruction in Standard Arabic according to their level of competency (from beginning to advanced) in smaller size groups. Additionally, they benefit from customized tutorials that closely monitor their progress towards the sought outcome.

• Cultural Component (English is used here as the lingua franca for delivery and communication).

Participants discover aspects of Moroccan Society and its wider geopolitical and cross-cultural contexts. Activities include interactive seminars and workshops as well as field visits and discovery excursions to three imperial cities (Fez, Marrakech, Rabat) as well as Casablanca; all in line with the theme of the week

• Arts, Leisure and Sports Component (English is used here as the lingua franca for delivery and communication)

SALIM includes a wider range of recreational and cultural activities (Performance acts and sketches, elocution video design, Arabic choir and Karaoke, Arabic calligraphy, pottery craft, Arabic trivia night and quizzes, Arabic Extravaganza Night) as well as in-door and outdoor sports activities.
