[email protected] Téléchager le CVKidane Kiros is an Associate Professor at Mohamed VI Polytechnic University.
He is also a Senior Fellow at the Policy Center for the New South. He holds a Ph.D. in Development Studies. From March 2014 to June 2019, he served as the Director of the Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS) at Addis Ababa University, and was a faculty member there. In his role as Director, he supervised the annual Tana High- Level Forum on Security in Africa and the African Peace and Security Program, an initiative of the African Union implemented by IPSS and funded by GIZ and the Austrian Development Agency. Additionally, he served as President of the African Peace Support Trainers Association (APSTA).
Kidane’s career has been primarily focused on teaching, research, educational administration, and humanitarian work. Prior to his tenure at IPSS, he taught at various faculties of AAU from 2003 to 2014 and served as Acting Director of the Institute of Federal Studies (IFS) at AAU from 2007 to 2008. He also held the position of Senior Administration and Finance Head for Continuing and Distance Education at AAU from 2003 to 2007. From 2014 to 2019, he was a member of the Senate of Addis Ababa University. His extensive experience includes academic program design and curriculum development.
In the humanitarian sector, he has worked with the Ethiopian Red Cross Society as Head of the Wollo Zone branch office and with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies as a member of the Eastern Africa regional working group on food security. He contributed to the Ethiopian Red Cross Society’s national working group on food security. From 1997 to 2002, he worked as a teacher at secondary schools and served as an educational expert and team leader at various provincial educational offices.
His research interests include geopolitics, transboundary natural resource management, sustainable development, peace and security, the African Union, and the Horn of Africa.
