AIRESS Research Seminar

On Wednesday, January 15th, Professor Abdelhak Bassou led an insightful research seminar at the Rabat campus of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, organized by the Africa Institute for Research in Economics and Social Sciences (AIRESS).

During the seminar, Professor Bassou delved into the evolution of global nuclear strategies, shedding light on how nuclear-armed countries have historically sought to maintain their monopoly over this powerful weaponry. He highlighted how these nations have primarily viewed nuclear arsenals as instruments of deterrence, rather than tools for active combat. As the world’s nuclear landscape shifts, Professor Bassou’s analysis raised thought-provoking questions about the changing dynamics in nuclear power. It was an enriching session, offering valuable perspectives on the current global nuclear order and its future implications, particularly in the context of shifting doctrines and the desire of emerging nations to join the nuclear club.
