Postdoctoral Position in Economics - Perception of Inequalities with an Experimental Approach

The African Institute for Research in Economics and Social Sciences (AIRESS), Faculty of Governance, Economics and Social Sciences (FGSES), Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Rabat, is seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Researcher to join the "Future Risks and Human Behavior" decision science group. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to international research on the perception of economic inequalities using experimental methods. The successful candidate will be involved in designing, conducting, and analyzing, lab and/or field experiments aimed at understanding how individuals perceive and react to different forms of economic inequality, and what are the causes and consequences of these perceptions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement lab or field experimental studies to investigate the perception of inequalities.
  • Conduct data collection, statistical analysis, and interpretation of experimental results.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers within the "Future Risks and Human Behavior" decision science group.
  • Prepare research findings for publication in high-impact academic journals.
  • Present research results at international conferences and workshops.
  • Use research insights to contribute to the teaching environment at UM6P.

Requirements 

  • A Ph.D. in Economics or a completed manuscript and defense scheduled before the end of 2024.
  • Strong background in experimental economics, behavioral economics, or related areas.
  • Strong mathematical skills for understanding quantitative and formal micro-economic and behavioral models.
  • Experience in designing and conducting economic experiments (e.g., o Tree, z-Tree, R Shiny or similar).
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and software (e.g., R, Python, or similar).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to publish research in peer-reviewed journals: at least one paper accepted/submitted to an academic journal in Economics.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in French or Arabic is an advantage but not required.
