Ali El Mhamdi is an Affiliate Professor at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University.

He is an Associate Professor at the Moroccan Academy of Diplomatic Studies (AMED) and the National School of Administration (ENSA). He obtained a Doctorate of State in Public Law from the University of Law (Paris II Assas-Sorbonne) in 1982.

Previously Director of Human Resources at the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Director of Legal Affairs and Treaties; Director of consular and social affairs; Legal adviser at the Moroccan Embassy in France; Consul General of Morocco in Bordeaux; Ambassador of Morocco to Lebanon; Ambassador of Morocco to The Netherlands; Ambassador of Morocco to Austria and Slovakia; Ambassador Permanent Representative of Morocco to international organizations based in Vienna (IAEA, UNIDO, UNODC, OSCE). Member of several official delegations in charge of bilateral and multilateral negotiations in Morocco and abroad; Member of the official Moroccan delegation to the 55th, 56th and 57th Sessions of the UN General Assembly; Representative of Morocco to the Legal Affairs Commission (6th Commission) of the United Nations (1999-2004); President of the Moroccan delegation in charge of negotiations on the maritime borders between Morocco and Spain (2000-2004); President of the Moroccan delegation for the General Assembly of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) (2003 to 2009); President of the Moroccan delegation in charge of the negotiations of the Readmission Agreement between Morocco and the EU (2008-2011); Chairman of the Moroccan Delegations for the General Assemblies to the International Organisations based in Vienna (2011 to 2016).

He is the author of several books, articles, studies, and conferences on Public law, Migration issues, Diplomatic law and international relations, diplomacy of global issues.
